Maryland Illegal Aliens Get Affirmative Action
By Eric Ruark, FAIR Director of Research | Former Maryland basketball coach Lefty Driesell once said that his plan was to make the University of Maryland “the UCLA of the east.” It now seems that Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is trying to make Maryland the east coast equivalent of California when it comes to catastrophic sanctuary policies. The Maryland DREAM Act signed into law by O’Malley on May 10, 2011 grants in-state tuition to illegal aliens residing in the state. Just like the federal version, Maryland’s DREAM Act rewards and encourages illegal immigration and has a detrimental effect on legal residents of the state. With a structural deficit of $1.1 billion and the annual cost of illegal immigration to Maryland taxpayers at $1.7 billion, O’Malley and his political cronies somehow think that catering to illegal aliens makes perfect sense.
The practice of putting the interests of illegal aliens above legal residents is nothing new in the “Old Line” state. University of Maryland-College Park (UMCP) computer science professor James Purtilo, and a former associate dean, told FoxNews.com that “he frequently saw admission officers favor students because of their ‘undocumented’ status.” According to Prof. Purtilo, admission officers “favor students with special circumstances. ‘Undocumented alien’ would be one of these special circumstances… They help fill out the diversity picture for the admissions office.”
Purtilo, who is critical of the DREAM Act because he thinks it is unfair to legal Maryland residents and taxpayers, said that the feeling among some university administrators is that “obviously we need more of these [illegal alien] students…’they’re enriching the College Park experience.’” These candid comments give a real window into the thinking of the politicians and bureaucrats who find nothing wrong with granting benefits to illegal aliens at great cost to Americans. Not only are Maryland’s taxpayers subsidizing the education of every DREAM Act beneficiary (to the tune of over $16,000 at UMCP), every seat at a Maryland university taken by an illegal alien is a spot denied to a legal Maryland resident.
The Maryland DREAM Act has outraged many Marylanders and sparked a petition drive to have the law put up for a referendum in 2012 that the bill’s opponents hope will lead to its repeal. The effort is well on its way to collecting enough signatures but still needs to take action to help overturn the bill and send a powerful message to the special interests firmly in control in Annapolis.

Sometimes I cannot get through a whole article like this because I get so damn frustrated. I have to actually stop, get up, walk around for a minute, and than continue to read. Seeing those kids pictures makes me want to slap and shake them violently while yelling" YOU HAVE NOW RIGHTS!!!!". States like Arizona, Georgia and Utah are doing right by the American people.
I was a military wife. I owned a house in MD, paid taxes in MD and yet to attend UM I had to pay out of state tuition. Where were my rights? Before you give away free education to those who have no vested interested in the US what about giving rights to Americans who live, work and pay taxes here. My family and my husband's family came to this country legally and we worked for what we have – am I bitter you're damn right.
You should be bitter, I really don't understand how college administrators justify a bill like DREAM ACT. There is barely enough money for legal residents, and now they want to deny admission for legal residents and give it to these illegal-immigrants!?!? Somebody please tell me there logic, seriously .
[...] Maryland Illegal Aliens Get Affirmative Action I'm surprised that this hasn't got people up in arms literally. Illegal invaders not only being subsidized by taxpayers but given preferential treatment as well in university admissions! I’m very happy to be leaving this country even though it was once great because of it’s diversity but now since you’re aren’t getting any WHITE immigrants the tables have turned.
Sir, I am sure you did not come to this country to celebrate "diversity"… be serious. Multiculturalism is a failed social experiment many leaders admit. Monoculturalism has worked for centuries. If you are happy to leave this country, well good riddance.

Mexicans *** *** **** of our society. This article backs my statement. (I can’t publicly post those sentiments Brian because. But there are many people agree with you!)
Here is a link to Congressman McClintock’s response to Mexican President Calderon comments to Congress:
This is President Teddy Roosevelt\’s view on immigration:
Maryland is 63% White and 30% Black. I guess the legislature is dying to bring in Mexicans to raise the quality of life in their State….
But it's still *wrong*!
For American politicians who side with and aid foreign invaders there should be some legal way to recall, impeach or perhaps place them in stocks in the village square.
You got it! The A3P is first and foremost about advancing the interest of White Americans. But it is also about taking responsibility and ensuring accountability.
There will be a 'revolution' of sorts in this country and when that day comes, these people who have dismissed the will of the White citizen and colluded in destroying our nation will be held accountable for their actions in a court of law, THE PEOPLES COURT! .
Attempting to prevent numbers from growing within a group is classified as GENOCIDE under article 2 of The Geneva Convention.
The real insult is to those out-of-state American citizens and students who are required to pay more for their education because they live outside the state of Maryland, when the state is willing to subsidize these people who come from outside our country. The agenda here on the part of the state of Maryland goes beyond some supposed humanitarian considerations and is really all about undermining the white dominated school system that the Left despises.
