US Census: Hispanics outnumber blacks in metro areas
April 14, 2011 | New figures by the US Census Bureau show Hispanics now outnumber African Americans for the first time in most metropolitan areas.
The figures, from the 2010 Census, illustrate the growing diversity of the 366 metro areas in the US, which are home to 83.7% of the US population.
Hispanics became the largest minority group in 191 of the areas last year.
The data could influence redistricting lines in many states, where political maps are drawn based on population.
The figures released on Thursday are important for the US political process because population determines the number of members a state has in the House of Representatives.
And states draw their own district lines, often taking ethnic voting into account.
Hispanic growth
That Hispanic populations have become the biggest minority groups in an increasing number of metropolitan areas – 191, up from 159 in the 2000 Census – is in part attributed to black populations moving south, leaving behind economically troubled cities in the northern part of the country.
New metropolitan areas where Hispanic populations rose include: Chicago, Illinois; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Atlantic City, New Jersey – all regions that will lose US House seats in the 2012 elections because of overall population changes.
Last month, the Census Bureau said the total Hispanic population in the US jumped 42% in the last 10 years to 50.5m, the equivalent of one in six Americans.
Black populations increased 11% to 37.7m, or about one in 10 Americans.
“A greater Hispanic presence is now evident in all parts of the country – in large and small metropolitan areas, in the Snowbelt [northern states] and in the Sunbelt [southern states],” William Frey, a demographer at the Brookings Institution, told the Associate Press news agency.
He added: “From now on, local, state and national politicians will need to pay attention to Hispanics rather than treating blacks as the major minority.”

I think James is basically pointing to the absurd role blacks find themselves in, caught between a rock and a hard place. The Hispanics are not at all friendly to the blacks in this country.
Every year 100,000 children alone are stopped at the border and deported back to their countries. That doesn't stop them though, the Hispanics keep streaming in. Don't trust census numbers for anything. God knows if there were only a few million Whites left they would manipulate the numbers to give us the appearance that there are more Whites than there actually are. When you factor in the baby boomer generation, which I hate to say is not reproducing anymore, Whites are quickly disappearing. This needs to stop now. Gather courage people. We are in this together and through American 3P we will overcome this horrible onslaught.
Seems I've caused a stir. Okay, let me clarify what I meant, those blacks supporting Illegal aliens who steal their jobs and then claim its the White mans fault they are poor that is the annoying part.
James – Since when do blacks want to work? They are perfectly happy to sit around, pop out more little monsters and collect their welfare check. They could care less if Mexicans are taking American jobs as long as they keep getting their government freebies.
James – who cares what the blacks or others do. What matters is what we ourselves do, the enemies are within the gates. The only thing we should be focusing on is ourselves.
Its annoying to say the least when blacks are out there supporting illegal immigration, those blacks don't seem to realize that the cheap illegal labor is stealing jobs from them just as much and perhaps even more so then Whites.
We do not have to fear our enemies. They are small. We have to fear those among us who would deny us our destiny. There is a positive, immediate way to respond to this. Get married and have many children. Change your expectations. Fill America with new life. That is as radical as it gets. Numbers talk, voices are muffled. Encourage others to do the same. There is no joining fee, there is not secret file on you.
